STURGIS | Darrel Eugene Brunson, 79, died March 6, 2014, at the Fort Meade Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1934, in Murdo to Charles and Ada (Swan) Brunson. After graduating from high school, he entered the U.S. Army in 1957 and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1959. He worked for many years as a Real Estate Broker in both Sturgis and Rapid City. Darrel passed away peacefully with his daughter and dear family friend at his side. Survivors include a son, William Brunson, Nebraska; two daughters, Kristie Romero, Wyoming, and Sophie Ekwall, Rapid City; seven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, May 5, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with Chaplain (Ret.) Herbert B. Cleveland officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard and the South Dakota Army National Guard.
