Obituary

David L. Ashland, born March 8, 1958, in Forest City, Iowa, passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 67 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Dave was a beloved husband, father, brother, and son, whose life was marked by a deep love for family and brought laughter to those around him.

A graduate from Rapid City Central High School, Dave went on to study at a vocational school, specializing in auto body. He later pursued a plumbing apprenticeship, preparing him for a long and dedicated career. For over 30 years, he worked with Culligan (Water Tree), where his commitment and work ethic left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.

Outside of work, Dave embraced life. He loved camping under the stars, riding motorcycles through open roads, and exploring trails on his 4-wheeler. Yardwork was more than a chore – it was something he took pride in. A passionate sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on his kids' teams and spending time with family during games and gatherings.

Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Dave had a remarkable ability to bring joy to any room. Whether through a well-timed joke or a playful comment, he always found a way to make others laugh.

On June 1, 1991, Dave married Tammy Barber Ashland. Together they built a family filled with love and laughter, creating countless memories.

Dave is survived by wife, Tammy Barber Ashland; children, Bryce Ashland, Shelby Ashland, Tye (Robyn) Stoebner, and Kayla (Skyler) Spilde; siblings, Cindy (Tracy) Krsnak and Terry (Roxanne) Ashland; and 7 grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by parents, Harold and Gloria Ashland, and his brother Dan Ashland.

A celebration of Dave's life was held in Rapid City, South Dakota.
