Former Gillette Resident David Wayne Johnson, 53, died Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Englewood, Colorado.

David was born July 20, 1970, in Spearfish, SD, to Russell and Carol Johnson. He attended school in Sturgis, Rawlins and Cheyenne and graduated from Newcastle.

He married Debbie Bates and the two had one son together, Niko. David worked in construction and the oil field and was an accomplished welder, mason and roofer. He loved his Harleys.

If you were his friend, he would do anything for you and was definitely a free spirit. He could draw anything and was an artist at heart.

David is survived by his father, Russell; stepmother, Leah; brother, Tad; and stepdaughters, Erica and Alisha Garneaux and LaRea Bargman.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol, and son, Niko.
