Later he met and married the love of his life, Delores Wulf, a union which lasted 46 years. They created their own home place east of Tilford where they proudly raised their children Lisa McFarland, David McFarland, Anita McFarland (Osmotherly), and Kimberly McFarland (Schnose).
David is survived by his wife, Delores; their children, Lisa, David, Anita, and Kim, and Byron and Faron; brother, Gregor McFarland; sisters, Genevieve Brechtel, Margaret Snyder, and Emma Bickley; 8 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There are so many great stories we could tell, memories we could share and talk forever on what a wonderful father, husband, brother, and all around great man in general. He didn't want anything too sentimental, showy or emotional to mark his passing but to us, he was a great man who will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD, at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013, with Chaplain Herb Cleveland officiating. The interment service will be at 11:00 a.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors. A potluck luncheon will be held afterwards at the Lion's Club Park in Sturgis.
