David Clifton Shepherd was the first of two boys born to Clifton and Alice (Albrook) Shepherd. David was born September 3, 1947, and Richard, December 9, 1955.

David was a cheerful and energetic teenager. He was very patriotic, and was proud of his extensive airplane model collection of World War II and 1950's and 60's fighter planes. David attended school in Rapid City where he played football at Central High School. After graduating in 1965, he attended school for auto mechanics, and sold Fuller Brush products. He remained single and without children all his life.

As a young adult, David suffered a head injury, and despite many social challenges, continued to improve himself. He studied the Bible enthusiastically and listened to a variety of theological radio programs in later years until his passing at Sturgis Regional Care, Sturgis, SD, on January 19, 2016, at the age of 68.

David is survived by his brother, Richard (Bonnie) Shepherd of Holdrege, Nebraska, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews living in the Rapid City area and other relatives living in central Iowa.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at the Evening Light Tabernacle, 232 E. Adams St., Rapid City, SD. Interment will be on Monday, January 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., at Pine Lawn Memorial Park, Rapid City, SD.
