Dean Carroll Michels,83,passed away Monday, March 23 ,2009 at Sturgis Senior Care.

Services will be Saturday, March 28 at 10:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Fox officiating.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Dean Carroll Michels was born to Peter and Lucy Michels Jan. 13, 1926 at Frankfort S.D. He grew up on a farm near Clark,S.D. He graduated from Thorpe School.

Dean and Alta (Tschappat) Michels were married Feb. 25,1948. They spent several years farming near Clark before moving to Lead S.D. In 1951,where Dean worked 39 years for Homestake Mining Co. retiring in 1991.

Dean taught a night class in woodworking at Lead High School.

They moved to Sturgis S.D. in 1991. They were snowbirds for 6 years in Florida. They also toured Alaska and Hawaii.

Dean and Alta celebrated 61 years of married life on Feb 25,2009.

They were members of Grace Lutheran Church and members and volunteers of Sturgis Senior Center.

Survivors include, his wife Alta,2 daughters.Jeanne and Larry Hoffman,Sturgis S.D. Diane Will of Rapid City,S.D, and one son Gary and Therese Michels of Omaha Ne. Eight grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother and one grandchild

A memorial has been established for Sturgis Senior Center.
