Obituary

Delbert Raymond Hart, 67, passed away at his home in Newell, South Dakota on September 25, 2012, of natural causes. At his request, no services were held, but a tribute to his life was held on October 21, 2012, at the gazebo in Lion's Park in Sturgis.

Delbert was born on April 21, 1945, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Howard R. and Lois M. (Eatherton) Hart. He was raised throughout the South Dakota area where he primarily worked as a farm/ranch hand. He married Donna L. Houchin on October 26, 1963, and became a father to two daughters, Kaylene Rae Hart of Gillette, WY, and Robin Raneigh Hart of Rapid City, SD. He worked a variety of jobs and was multi-talented. He worked at Homestake Mine in Lead, SD for several years. The family moved from Sturgis to Gillette in 1980, where Delbert worked construction. He was a heavy equipment operator who excelled at his job. He loved Ford trucks and was an excellent mechanic, always tinkering on the family's automobiles. He was always a friend who stood up for the little guy and he would give you the shirt off his back. He loved a good joke and he could tell one with the best of them a prankster who loved to get your goat! He loved to watch Speed Buggy and Scooby Doo on a Saturday morning with his girls, loved homemade pancakes, oyster stew, and a big, fat, egg sandwich with a slice of onion on it. He loved to ride motorcycles and dance around the house like Baloo from the Jungle Book! His life was a ride, and even though the marriage did not survive, he always loved his girls the best way that he knew how!

Delbert is survived by his daughters; one sister, Vicki Jeffrey, of Kirby, Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lynda Kayleen; one brother, Dallas Lamont; and one grandchild, Cody Raneigh.

He was loved and he is missed!
