Obituary

Delcie Bernice was born to Bert and Maibell (Harvey) Wakefield on a ranch in Crook County, Wyoming. She married John "Ed" Materi on December 29, 1943. They had one child, Sharon Adean.
Delcie was many things including a Rodeo Queen, but when asked about that, she would always give credit to how well her horse performed. She was really a lover of all animals, especially cats. A champion for the underdog, she believed all animals and people were deserving of love.
Delcie loved her family and often showed them through her cooking. Everyone's favorite dish made it to the table at family gatherings. Delcie also enjoyed traveling. She and Ed had gone to Alaska three times, traveling with her brothers and sisters-in-law. One of her traveling highlights was going to England, Scotland, and Wales with her niece, Dulcinda, as her tour guide. Local adventures included family reunions to Lake Meadowlark in the Big Horn Mountains for family picnics.
Delcie is survived by her granddaughter, Ashley (Johnny); special niece and nephew, Dulcinda and Lon; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; daughter, Sharon Adea; grandson, Benjamin Edward; parents, Maibell and Bert; sister, Dyllis; and brother, Harvey "Bud,"
Cremation has taken place and at Delcie's request, no services will be held. The family suggests memorials be given to the Upton Ambulance Service or the Weston County Humane Society.
