Deloris Josephine Smith, 90, left this earth and went to be at her forever home September 25, 2026.

Mom was born June 11, 1936 to Earl and Goldie Oliver, outside under a cottonwood tree on the banks of Elm Creek. She grew up on Elm Creek with her four brothers, Dale, Donald, John and Bert. Mom had many adventures with her brothers, but most of the time you would find her out riding her horse for hours all over the country side.

In 1954, Mom married Dad, Keith Smith, and to this union six children were born; Earl (Melody) Smith, Lynn (Gloria) Smith, Robby (Darla) Smith, Clinton (Kerri) Smith, Tina (Joel) Whipple and Eric Smith. Mom and Dad worked on a ranch near Sturgis until 1957, then they started ranching in Whitewood Valley. In 1964 they moved to the Union Center area until 1968 when they moved to the Perry and Amanda Smith home place. Mom and Dad retired on their ranch in 1996.

Mom was a member of the Hereford Baptist Church. She had a love for horses, playing her guitar, and gardening. Mom always had the most beautiful flower gardens. But Mom's greatest love, besides the LORD, and Dad, was her family!

Mom is survived by all of her children, 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Oliver and Bert (Barbara) Oliver; brother and sister in-laws; Lolita Oliver; Edna Smith; Nylia Severson; Rob Smith; Carol Smith and Harold (Debbie) Delbridge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Keith Smith; brothers; Dale and Donald Oliver; her brother and sister in-laws, Jack Smith; Wes & Shirley Schuettpelz; Harold Severson; Kay Smith; Tom and Linda Smith; Karen Delbridge; Perry Jr. Smith; Dottie Oliver and Cheryl Oliver.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 2 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at New Underwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for improvements to the New Underwood Cemetery.
