DeNiel Chad Ammon, 55, Fruitdale, SD, died at his residence on Friday, March 28, 2008.

DeNiel was born at Gackle, ND, on March 1, 1953, to Otto and Alice (Zimmerman) Ammon. He grew up in Gackle, ND, and attended school there. After high school, he traveled around the country working at various jobs.

He enlisted in the US Army in 1971 and served until 1974.

He was married to D.W. at Belle Fourche, SD, on October 5, 1988. The couple lived in Fruitdale and DeNiel worked as a slot machine technician in the gaming industries in Deadwood where he was very highly respected.

Survivors include his wife, Dalene, Fruitdale; his mother, Alice Nitschke, Rosehill, Kan.; one son, Daniel Ammon, Belle Fourche; one daughter, LeAnn Ammon, Belle Fourche; one brother, Dale Ammon, Fruitdale; and two sisters, Devaris Wegner, Rosehill, Kan., and Diana Kiger, Garden Grove, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel on Monday, March 31, 2008, with Rev. Carl Lundgren officiating. Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard will be held at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
