Rapid City -Dennis "Wally" Allen was born on October 17, 1944 to Florence (Kelly) Allen and Clifford "Pete" Allen in Jamestown ND. In 1948 Dennis "Wally" and his family moved to Esmond ND. During his school years he participated in band and sports. Dennis "Wally" made many friends and pulled many pranks. Dennis "Wally" graduated from Esmond High School in 1962. Three days after graduation he caught the first ride out of Esmond and moved to Rapid City, SD. In 1964 Dennis "Wally" married Linda Hime. From that union they had 3 beautiful daughters, Becky, Kelly, and Jodi. In 1976 he met Louetta Whitney and they were married on December 30, 1981. They spent the next 32 years loving each other and raising their children. Louetta and Wally enjoyed traveling, antiquing, and going to rummage sales. In 1987 they started selling antiques and doing antique road shows. Dennis "Wally" began his employment with the Freed's Furniture family in September 1964. Wally was in his 50th year of employment when he suddenly became seriously ill. Wally fought for his life for 30 days and lost the battle on January 4, 2014. Dennis "Wally" is preceded in death by his mother Florence Allen, father Clifford Allen, and brother Clifford "Skip" Allen. Survivors include his wife Louetta Allen of Rapid City, daughters Becky Wickenhagen, Kelly (Mark) Langdeau, Jodi (Richard) Elmore all of Spearfish SD; stepsons Wayne "Skip" (Doreen) Whitney Rapid City SD, Merlin (Melissa) Whitney Folsom SD, stepdaughters Tamara (Brien) Rister Rapid City SD, Cynthia (Tal) Devens Sauk Center MN; sisters JoAnn (Ralph) Anderson Rugby ND, Melanie (Jim) Gilbertson Crookston MN, and 10 grandchildren. Dennis "Wally" will be greatly missed by his family, friends and customers. A celebration of his life will be Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Rapid City SD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wally's favorite charities: Well Springs of Rapid City and The National Kidney Foundation.
