Dennis (Dennie) Clausen of Sturgis, South Dakota passed peacefully with his wife by his side, at Fort Meade VA Hospital on June 8th, 2025.
He was born in Dupree, SD in 1951 to Georgia and LeRoy Clausen.
He proudly served his country from July 1970 to December of 1973.
After traveling through many of life's chapters, he chose to complete his journey with his wife Laura, marrying on March 28th, 2009.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the end of his beautiful story.
Dennie Clausen, a gifted guitarist whose music echoed the spirit of his generation and whose unique sense of humor brightened every room he entered. At age 73, he left us peacefully leaving behind a legacy defined by soulful melodies, infectious laughter, and a lifelong passion for classic rock and roll that inspired all that knew him.
A devoted husband, cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he lived his life as a celebration of family, friendship, and music. Whether delivering an electrifying solo or sharing a perfectly timed joke, he had an uncanny ability to connect with others, turning ordinary moments into lifelong memories.
His musical journey, rooted in the timeless traditions of classic rock, was a testament to his individuality and flair. Every chord he struck was an expression of his deep passion for life. His contributions, both on stage and off, will continue to inspire family and friends for generations to come.
He is survived by a loving family, wife, Laura; mother, Georgia; siblings, Catherine, Becky, Randy, Connie, Carla, and Brian. His loving children, Mike, Julie, Jac, Amy, and Emily. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a myriad of friends who will forever hold dear the tunes of his guitar and the echo of his laughter. In celebrating his life, we honor not only the music he made but also the love and light he spread throughout his lifetime.
Your melody and laughter will remain with us always!
Dennie was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy and his brother, Donnie.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am , Friday, June 13th, 2025, at Believers Fellowship. Inurnment will immediately follow at Black Hills National Cemetery. The family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship immediately following the burial at The Vets Club in Sturgis.
