IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis Gene
Hudson
October 24, 1945 – May 29, 2021
Dennis Hudson was born on October 24, 1945 in Newcastle, WY. He lived in Illinois until he started school. Dennis went to first grade at the country school on Buffalo Creek Road, where he was taught by his cousin, Iris.
Dennis moved to the Driskell Ranch when he was 6 and went to 2nd grade through high school in Upton, where he graduated at the age of 17 in 1963. Upon graduation, Dennis joined the Air Force. He had the privilege of being on guard duty for John F. Kennedy when Kennedy visited San Antonio, TX, the evening before he was assassinated.
Dennis was later stationed at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, where he met Cyndi White. Dennis and Cyndi were married on December 4, 1965. Their son, David, was born on June 2, 1966 in Minot. After the service, Dennis spent time as a teacher, a car salesman, and most of his working life as grain elevator auditor. Dennis, Cyndi, and David lived in various towns in North Dakota, settling in Grand Forks. Dennis and Cyndi were married until Cyndi's passing on August 31, 1993.
Dennis reconnected with past school mate and neighbor, Carole (Clyde) Holmes. They were married on June 3, 1995 on the balcony of the Franklin Hotel in Deadwood, SD. Dennis and Carole moved from Grand Forks, ND to Forest River, ND, where they owned and operated Tom's Lounge.
In 2006, Dennis and Carole moved to Piedmont, SD, where they enjoyed traveling, exploring the Black Hills in their Jeep, and showing off their 1960 T-Bird convertible. They also enjoyed frequent trips to Deadwood, SD.
Dennis underwent a heart valve replacement in Minneapolis in the fall of 2017. That miracle was celebrated by the Heart Ball in Rapid City, SD. The new valve gave Dennis the opportunity to enjoy the things he loved doing with Carole, including walking up the Crazy Horse Monument.
