Dereck Allen Remington, 68, of Sturgis, SD, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Monument Health Sturgis hospital.

Dereck "Rick" Allen Remington was born March 5, 1954, in Sturgis, SD, to Shirley (Blake) and Leslie "Darrow" Remington, Sr. He was the oldest of five boys. He had four brothers, Leslie Jr. (2 daughters), Corey and Judy (2 kids), Darcy (4 boys), Scott (2 kids).

He attended school in Sturgis, SD. He married Kay Grenstiner of Boulder Canyon in September of 1977, or October of 1978, nobody really is sure of this as it was an ongoing argument between the two of them.

In 1981, their first child was born, Jamie Sue, followed by Joshua Jay, and Jessica Marie Remington all of Sturgis. He had three grandchildren: Mason, Kaylee, and Gracie Anderson of Upton, WY. He loved spending time with his children and most off all his grandchildren and spoke about them to anyone who would listen to him. All of his grandchildren enjoyed taking turns riding on his motorcycle, but most of all he was proud and honored to be called their Poppy. He could hardly wait for the next adventure with them. Rick also had many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley and Leslie "Darrow" Remington, Sr., brothers, Leslie Remington, Jr., and Darcy Remington, mother of his children, Kay (Grenstiner) Remington

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023, at First United Methodist Church in Sturgis, SD.
