Obituary

Dianne “Dannie” Moravec, 93, of Rapid City, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. She spent her entire life in Rapid City, a place she loved deeply and served faithfully.

At a very young age, a close friend of her mother’s began calling her “Dannie”, a nickname that would stay with her for the rest of her life and became how she was known and cherished by family and friends.

Dannie graduated cum laude from Central High School in 1950 and went on to attend McMurray College for Women in Jacksonville, Illinois. In 1951, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Jack Moravec. Together they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and service, and were blessed with three children: Brett, Mike and Jacque.

A member of Grace United Methodist Church in Piedmont since 1972, Dannie lived her faith through action. She served as a Sunday School teacher, release-time counselor and church treasurer, giving generously of her time and talents. Her dedication to children and families was evident in every role she embraced, homeroom mother, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, member of the Piedmont Sewing Circle and an active participant in the Piedmont PTA.

While she poured her heart into her community, Dannie’s greatest joy was always her husband, Jack. She supported him faithfully throughout his career often travelling for hours just to watch him sell at auctions. She loved preparing his favorite meals and was known for the special sweet surprises she so often had waiting for him after dinner, a small but heartfelt expression of a lifelong love.

Dannie is survived by her sons, Brett Moravec and Mike (Nikki) Moravec; her daughter, Jacque (Mali) Malaki; her grandsons, Iosua John (Kyle) Kaeo-Malaki, Tomasi Jack Malaki, and Tyler (Amanda) Moravec; her granddaughters, Morgan (Dustin) Lenhoff and Baylie (Taras) Kotsan; her great-grandsons, Makoa Iopu Malaki, Miles Lenhoff, Emerson Lenhoff, Maxwell Lenhoff; and her great-granddaughters, Izeala Rain Malaki and Anastasia Irene Moravec and special friend, Lonie Teachout.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George “Les” and Susan (Spracher) Goodhope; her beloved husband, Jack; her brother, William “Bill” Goodhope, and sister, Judy (Ron) O’Connell.

May her memory be eternal.

At Dannie’s request, no services will be held.
