Dixie D. Tveidt, 64, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at her home in Sturgis, SD with her family by her side.
Dixie was born to Fred and Twyla (Wildberger) Huffman on February 10, 1957 in Sturgis, SD. The family lived in Newcastle, WY until they moved back to Sturgis, SD when she was 5 years old. Dixie attended school in Sturgis from 2nd grade until graduating from Sturgis High School in 1975. On August 7, 1976, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Bernard Tveidt. To this union two boys, Toby and Sheldon, were born.
They lived in Pleasant Valley raising cattle. Dixie, when she was not a homemaker, was busy milking cows and raising her chickens and chicks. Dixie was an avid softball player and fan and participated in the Sturgis Softball programs for over 25 years. Dixie's pride and joy were her grandbabies. She loved them so much and could not get enough of them and having them with her all the time.
Dixie is survived by her husband, Bernie Tveidt; two sons, Toby (Kasey) Tveidt and Sheldon (Amanda) Tveidt; 5 grandchildren, Sophie, Brynleigh, Easton, Tinlee, and Emma; 2 step-grandchildren, Gavin and Darin; a step-great-grandson, Logan; brother, Dan (Sandy) Huffman; sisters, Tammy (Ray) Huffman and Tina (Artie) Huffman; mother, Twyla Huffman; and numerous nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father, Fred Huffman; maternal grandparents, Henry and Laura Wildberger; and paternal grandparents, Sherman and May Huffman.
Gathering and visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Sturgis Youth Softball/Baseball.
