Obituary

Donald Henry Gardner, 79, Fairburn, SD, died September 19, 2014, at Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.

Donald Henry Gardner was born June 5, 1935, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Bert and Daisy Gardner. Don lived in Fairburn, South Dakota, which he called home for over 20 years.

He was a logger, trader, collector, hunter, fisherman, gardener and a blue ribbon winemaker. Don and his brother Dell owned and operated a tree trimming service and also the Caputa store during the 1980's. Don and his wife Karyl also owned and operated the Oglala Store for a couple years before they retired to Fairburn. Don was a man of numerous talents and trades and was loved by many.

His loving family whom he is survived by are, his wife, Rosie; his daughters, Shanna Parker and Donita Pena and her husband Ray; his sons, Johnny Gardner and his wife Kim, Tony Gardner, and step-son Justin King; also are his children Don, Richard, Randy, Rickita and Tanya; sister, Virginia Utter and her husband Dave; sister-in-law Sharon Gardner; nephews, Bob Gardner, David Utter, Darrell Utter; niece, Susie Utter; grandchildren, Brandy Jojola, Casey Olguin, Dustin Parker and his wife Stephanie, Bella Pena, Tanner Parker, Nikko Pena, Brittany Gardner, Shay Gardner, Kenneth Englert, Bryce King, RJ Pena, Cody Gardner and Amber King; and eight great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dell Gardner; Karyl King; and nephew, Michael Gardner.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 2:00pm at the Fairburn Cemetery.
