Donnie was born January 25, 1976, in Sturgis, SD, to Donald W. and Roxann (Bartels) Patterson. He grew up in Sturgis and graduated from Sturgis Brown High School. He completed his education at Western Dakota Vo-Tech where he earned his degree in Human Disabilities.

He worked at Black Hills Special Services and became a journeyman electrician for Freeman Electric, where he worked for 13 years. Following his retirement from a disability, he continued to battle his health. He had a form of muscular dystrophy.

Donnie was a good father and he loved his kids. He enjoyed taxidermy, hunting, fishing, old motorcycles, and cars. He was a huge Denver Bronco's fan.

Donald James "Donnie" Patterson, 40, Sturgis, died Sunday, June 12, 2016, at his home in Sturgis, after a long battle with his health.

Survivors include his parents, Donald and Roxann Patterson; daughter, Tiana; son, Tryten; brothers, Wayne (Kelly Jo), Terry (Cassy), and Mike; maternal grandparents, Robert and Rose Bartels; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Committal services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis. Friends are welcome to join the family at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery.
