Obituary

Donald Lorine Josephson, 79, Fort Meade, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Fort Meade VA Hospital.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Moe Greiner officiating. Burial with military honors by the Belle Fourche Honor Guard follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Donald was born May 22, 1929 at Buffalo, SD, to Jalmer "Prince" and Evelyn (Hilton) Josephson.

He attended country school at Cave Hills before returning home to work for neighboring ranches. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17. After his honorable discharge he enlisted in the US Air Force.

He returned to Buffalo where he met Benita Bye. They were married in Miles City, MT on February 28, 1955.

Don worked for area ranches around Buffalo. He also worked construction for the Titan and Minuteman missiles. After moving to Sioux Falls he continued to work construction until he started driving for a local cab company. Don moved to Black Hawk where he married Betty Fairbrush. They moved to Seattle and Don returned to the Black Hills after Betty's death.

Survivors include his daughter Evelyn Horner, Belle Fourche; sisters, Rose Schar, Belle Fourche, Joyce Jones, Niles, MI, Verla Hiekkila, Belle Fourche, Gloria Flin, Belle Fourche, Shirley Peterson, Rapid City; also 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several step children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and several brothers in law.
