Obituary

RAPID CITY| Donald Earl Muckler, 94, passed away December 30, 2014. His final days were spent with his wife and family at his home in Rapid City. Donald was born May 2, 1920 to Earl T. and Zina F. Muckler of Bonita Springs, South Dakota. He grew up and attended school in Rapid City. He then spent some time building planes in California before returning to the family farm, where he met his wife. He was married to school teacher Ruth E. Brandeberry on April 14, 1950. Together they lived throughout the Black Hills area where Donald worked for the soil conservation office. They had a family of five childrenthree girls and two boys. He was active in his church community, enjoyed spending time with the numerous children of his family, and working with his hands. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Muckler of Rapid City; sons, Jim and Jerry (Laura) Muckler; daughters, Connie (Jerry) Fallat, and Susan Bartels; niece, Kay Muckler; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Chet and Clarence (Dutch) Muckler; sister, Ethel Nelson; daughter, Carol Muckler; grandsons, Douglas and Daniel Bartels; and granddaughter, Ashleigh Mauseth. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2014 at the South Canyon Baptist Church in Rapid City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary donations be sent to the Hospice of the Black Hills in Donald's name.
