The family is saddened to announce the passing of Doreen Hester in Sturgis, SD on Friday, February 19, 2021. Doreen had moved back to South Dakota to stay close to family.
Doreen was born in Rapid City to Harvey and Helen Ballinger as their fourth child. She was married to James Hester on July 21, 1962 in Rapid City, SD. They moved to Cut Bank, MT in 1966, where they lived until Jim returned to South Dakota in 2019 and Doreen returned in 2020.
Doreen enjoyed her life in Cut Bank, where she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir, and serving as a Deacon, Elder, and Mariner. She worked for several businesses, including the Ben Franklin and Glacier Motor Inn, as well as owning a cleaning service with Jim and her own pet grooming business.
Doreen is survived by her husband, Jim; children, Paul and Lynda and their spouses Carolyn and Scott; four grandchildren, Nicole, Lacey, Alina, and Forrestt; and great-grandchildren, Reece, Taylor, and Jameson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Helen; as well as her brother, Harvey "Bud"; and sisters, Delores and Lois.
She will be interred at the Whitewood Cemetery in Whitewood, SD at a future date.
