Ms. Doreen Faye Thoelke, nee Riecke, passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2023, at her home in Rapid City. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Doreen was born on June 21st of 1953 in Mitchell, SD. She was an extremely hard worker. She worked with her father at a bait shop and at The Black Hills Packing Co. She was a waitress at numerous restaurants and went to school where she followed her career path at EDS/General Motors.

All her life she had a love for animals. She had many pets including everything from the smallest chipmunks to the largest horses. She knew how important they were to people.

Doreen is survived by her daughter, Christina Thoelke; her grandkids, Hannah Thoelke and Trace Smolik; her sisters, Gloria (Dale) Schmidt, Mavis Kiggins, Georgia Homstein, and Brenda (Kent) Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Doreen was cremated at Black Hills Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Doreen requested not a funeral, but to have a celebration of life, which is planned for Spring of 2024.
