Doris was born January 17, 1926, at Dupree, SD, to Oscar and Gena (Knudson) Herren. Doris attended grade school at Sunnybrook Rural School and graduated from High School at Dupree in 1943. She attended Black Hills State College in 1944 and 1945 and several summer sessions. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1966.

She was united in marriage to Richard Bigler on November 6, 1957, at Las Vegas, New Mexico.

Doris spent 36 years teaching in rural and city schools. She retired from teaching in 1991. The balance of her years was spent on the farm.

Doris M. Bigler, 91, Piedmont, died Saturday, September 23, 2017, at her home.

Survivors include her daughters, Vonda and Darla; one grandson, Jackson and Dick Bigler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Private family services will be at a later date.
