Doris J. Dunbar died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at the Lippold Hospice Unit at Sturgis Regional Hospital at the age of 73.
She was born Aug. 27, 1933, in Dupree to James and Berneita (Pooley) Miller. She grew up and attended school in Dupree.
On April 13, 1950, Doris and William Dunbar were married in Rapid City. They lived in many places while Bill served in the military. They moved to Sturgis in 1976, where they have lived since.
Doris was a member of the United Church of Christ in Dupree and was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, three daughters,five sisters,13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Her parents and twin brothers in infancy, Jesse and James, preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Doris were Friday, Aug. 17, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial followed at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Casketbearers were Marcus Kindsfater, Cory Kindsfater, Dustin Dunbar, David Fields, Bernie Fields, Lester Starr, Brady Dunbar, Jim Dunbar and Bill Dunbar.
Memorials were established to the Sturgis Regional Hospital and the Lippold Hospice Unit.
