Dorothy Jean (Watts) Brown 67, of Box Elder, passed away Sunday June 29, 2008 at Rapid City, SD. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 3, 2008 at the Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis, SD with Pastor Joel Higgins officiating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Dot was born October 2, 1940 in Lovell, WY, the third child of four born to Jesse T. Watts and Mamie C. (Seals) Watts. She grew up and went to school in Cody, WY. In March 1957 she married Marcus LeeChester Brown of Cody, WY. After 26 years of service she retired from the Douglas School District in Box Elder. For over 25 years she showed and trained Pomeranians, Golden Retrievers, and many other breeds. Along with being a lifetime member of the Rapid City Kennel Club she was active with her children in the Jr. Kennel Club when they were young. She and her husband ran Mar-Dot Animal Boarding Kennels during this time. Other passions she enjoyed were making quilts for her family and traveling. Traveling not only allowed her to see new places but more importantly allowed her to meet new people. However, she ultimately enjoyed returning to her home and friends in Box Elder. She is survived by her 2 sons, Donald Ray/Sandi Brown of Colorado Springs, CO, Mark Lee/Marty Brown Jr. of Joshua Tree, CA, 2 daughters, Sondra Jean (Brown) Adams of Pierre, SD, Ginny Lynn (Brown)/Mark Phelps of Parker, CO, 4 grand children, Sabrina (Brown)/Dan Hall, Mark & Jacob Phelps, Cassondra Adams, 2 step grandchildren Rebecca Himango & Jeremy Adams, 3 great grandchildren Samantha, Dane & Carter, 2 brothers. She was preceded in death by husband Marcus, baby son Jay, baby daughter Glenda, her parents & one sister.
