Dorothy Fritz 95 of Sturgis passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Visitation will be from 12-7:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Black Hills Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Sturgis. A funeral service will be 10:00 am Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Grace Lutheran Church, with Rev. Michael Fox officiating. Interment will follow at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.

Dorothy was born March 18, 1914 to Conrad and Mary Rieb in Chicago. In her younger years, Dorothy and her family moved to Kansas, Wisconsin, and finally South Dakota where she went to grade school in the Nisland/Belle Fourche area. In 1934 she married Carl Fritz and after six years of living in Newell they moved to Montana, then to Colorado. Eventually, they came back to farm in Belle Fourche, Spearfish, Newell, and Vale area for fifteen years. Dorothy has lived in Sturgis since 1963 where she was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her children Melvin and Grada Fritz of FL, Carl Fritz of OK, James Fritz of SD, Barbara and Palmer Dahl of SD, Dona and Jim Brennan of CA, brothers Jake Rieb of SD, Fred Rieb of MO, sister Erma Werlinger of SD, 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Fritz, son Robert, grandson Robert Jr., great-granddaughter Monique, parents, 4 brothers Edward, Henry, Carlie, John Rieb, and sister Annie Felton.
