Dorothy Grace Giffin, 94, Sundance and formerly of Belle Fourche, died Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Sundance Long Term Care Center.
Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Committal services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Friends may gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis prior to leaving for the cemetery.
Dorothy was born October 1, 1917 at Newcastle, WY, to Charles Alexander and Lucinda "Fern" (Hardy) Murray. She grew up in Newcastle and graduated from high school. She attended Barnes School of Commerce in Denver, CO and returned to Newcastle where she worked as a telephone operator, store clerk and secretary while caring for her parents.
She met Harry Leroy Giffin and the two were wed on April 10, 1946 in Newcastle, WY.
They lived in Osage and then Edgerton, WY where Harry had his first church. They also lived in Newcastle before settling in Belle Fourche. They were married for 59 years.
Dorothy had lived in Sundance the last six and one half years.
She was a member of the Black Hills Gospel Assembly Church.
Survivors include her sons Paul (Christine Rovere) Giffin, Rapid City, Phil (Eunice) Giffin, Belle Fourche; one daughter, Ruth (Bill) Boucher, Sundance; one sister, Ina Huber, Alliance, NE; also 9 grand children, 14 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and three sisters.
