Dorothy M. Weiss, 82, Rapid City, died Monday, March 12, 2007, at Clarkson Nursing Home in Rapid City.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2007, at 1 p.m., at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, with Pastor Sam Cowles and Pastor Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Dorothy Marie Weiss was born July 17, 1924, in Rapid City, to Pleasant G. and Theresa (Turton) Ensor. She was raised in Rapid City, graduating from high school and business college. She worked for Webb Hills Clothing in Rapid City and the Post Exchange at the Rapid City Army Air Base (now Ellsworth).
Dorothy met Clair L. Weiss at church camp during high school. They were married after Clair got out of service from WWII. They were married 57 years. She and Clair worked at the base for seven years. In 1955, they moved to a ranch near Opal, raising Angus cattle until Clair's death in May 2003. After Clair's death, Dorothy moved to Holiday Hills Estate Retirement in Rapid City.
Dorothy was a member of the Opal Community Church for many years.
Survivors include her brother, Carl Ensor, Keystone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents; husband; and one brother, Gardner Ensor, preceded her in death.
Memorials have been established to the Opal Fire Department and to Trinity Wood to help defray medical expenses.
