IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Marie
Wiege
December 22, 1930 – December 22, 2020
Dorothy Wiege was born on December 22, 1930 in Gladstone, ND to Joseph and Anna (Krug) Wehner. She was raised in the small town and attended school there. After school, she received her LPN license and worked at the Dickinson Hospital.
She met the love of her life, Herbert Wiege, at a local barn dance. They were married on September 11, 1951. In 1955, they moved to Whitewood, making that their permanent residence. They spent nearly 45 years together before Herbert's death in 1996.
Dorothy was soft-spoken, had an easy smile and laugh, and was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed working in her yard, camping, crafts, crocheting, quilting, and embroidering. Many family members possess articles of her handiwork. More than anything else, Dorothy enjoyed her children and grandchildren, who called her Big Grandma.
Alzheimer's eventually became part of Dorothy's daily life. When she was unable to stay in her home any longer, she moved to Judy's Assisted Living in Belle Fourche, and later to the Massa Unit at Monument Health Sturgis Care Center.
Dorothy went to heaven on her 90th birthday, December 22, 2020. What a special birthday gift she was given!
Survivors include her children, Karen Wilcox, Deb (Wayne) Domogalski, and Randal (Jeannie) Wiege; sisters, Ann Toth, Faye (Ron) Carlson, and Sherry (Frank) Meyer; brother, Roger Wehner; grandchildren, Bobby Wilcox, Lynette (Stace) Rhoden, Michael (Daneen) Domogalski, Randa (Corey) Johnson, BJ Wiege, and Hanna (Jordan) Nichols; step-grandchildren, Danielle, Taylor, Drew, and Owen; and there was a special place in Dorothy's heart for the 3 Wilcox girls. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Wiege; and her parents, Joseph and Anna Wehner; 3 brothers, Frank, Martin, and Allen; and some younger siblings.
