Douglas Barry Blount, 59 of Rapid City passed away Friday May, 30, 2008 at Fort Meade VA Medical Center. He was born 6-16-48 in Fort Dodge Iowa. Doug enlisted in the Navy on 9-30-65 and was discharged on 2-2-68. He was stationed on Midway Island in the Vietnam War. He was a 1979 graduate of BHSC with a BS in Biology an in Outdoor Education .He was an accomplished carpenter and contractor in the BH and an avid fisherman. He was an eternal student of life and never failed to provide and inspiration and words of encouragement to his many friends. He was preceded in death by his father Jay and mother Betty. He was survived by his daughter Rebecca Jorgensen, his precious granddaughter Maya and her father Miguel; his three brothers, Miles, Van and his wife Julianne, son Chris and daughter Jessica, their Grandmother Lois Ahrens, and youngest brother Randall. Memorial services will be held at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis SD, Rotunda location at 1:00 PM Tuesday June 3, 2008. Memorials may be sent to Boys Club of RC or the Humane Society of the BH. Throughout the wisdom he shared, he will be a part of our lives each and every day. We love you and will miss you Doug.
