E. Thomas Jones, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in Rapid City, SD.

Earl Thomas Jones was born in Goodland, Kansas on October 30, 1941. He took off from the orphanage he was in and traveled anywhere by riding the trains. He told stories of hiding on top of the car to prevent from being seen, and of how lonely and cold it was.

He traveled to Corpus Christi, Texas, then finally made it to South Dakota. This is where he met and married his wife of 60+ years, Bonnie Jones. They bought a farm in Vale, South Dakota, where he resided the last 30 years.

He worked at Homestake Mine in Lead for 30+ years. He is proud of his wife, Bonnie; son, Alan Jones (Loveland, Colorado); daughter, Donna Jones (Lead, SD); grandkids, Angel Jones (Los Angeles, California); Melvin DeSersa of (Lead, SD); and Tyler DeSersa (Spearfish, SD).

His last job was working at Big D in Central City, SD with his daughter. Tom loved working with his daughter and sometimes he would even out boss her. He enjoyed all the friends he met. Tom never had a negative thing to say about anyone. He voiced his opinion and let you know he meant business. I love you daddy.

Visitation will be Monday, October 7, 2024, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Black Hills Funeral Home, 1440 Junction Ave, Sturgis, SD.
