Obituary

Earl Bob Rose, 65, Sturgis, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Wednesday with a prayer service offered at 7 p.m. at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Sturgis with Pastor Keith Nelson officiating. A memorial has been established.

Earl was born January 28, 1941, at Grosse, SD, to Lester and Caroline (Springer) Rose. He attended rural school near Grosse. After completing the 8th grade he stayed and farmed with his Dad. On January 3, 1958, he married Maxine Joy Houska at Kimball, SD. They lived in the Chamberlain area, where their three children were born. In 1968 they bought the Mobridge Taxi and operated it until 1973, when they moved to Sturgis. Earl worked several jobs in Sturgis until 1978, when he started painting. Then, in 1980, he started Rose's Sanitation, which he operated until his death.

Survivors include his wife Maxine Rose, Sturgis; two sons, Jerry A. (Renee) Rose, Sturgis, Earl Jay (Lisa) Rose, Box Elder; one daughter, Jeanne (Dick) Nusom, Sturgis; extended family, Elmie (Dean) Vetter and family, Sturgis, Joe Rose, California, Diane Rose, Spearfish; one brother, Harold Rose, Sturgis; one sister, Clara (Red) Atkinson, Fort Benton, MT; 6 grandchildren, LaDena, Amber Nicole and Ashlee Rose, Sturgis, Misty Dawn, Joshua Jay and Angel Rose, Box Elder; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one infant son.
