Obituary

Echo Orion Calatrello, 22, of Sturgis, South Dakota, passed away on January 10, 2026. Born on February 1, 2003, to loving parents Glen and Mikal Calatrello, Echo was welcomed into a close-knit family as the cherished younger sister to her devoted older brother, Jhurny.

From her earliest days, Echo embraced the outdoors with boundless enthusiasm. Family life revolved around adventures in nature—camping under starry skies, hiking scenic trails, and sledding down snowy hills alongside friends and extended family. These shared moments created a lifetime of laughter, stories, and unbreakable bonds that defined her world.

As she grew into a vibrant young woman, Echo's spirit found new expression among her friends. She loved cruising the open roads, windows down, with music blasting—singing along to favorite songs, discovering new tracks, and creating memories that felt timeless. Her easygoing energy, infectious smile, and genuine love for those around her drew people in and left lasting impressions.

Echo lived fully in the present, finding joy in simple freedoms: the rush of fresh air on a trail, the beat of a perfect song, and the warmth of being surrounded by those she held dear. Though her time was far too short, she filled it with adventure, connection, and quiet wonder.

She is survived by her parents, Glen and Mikal Calatrello; her beloved brother, Jhurny; her handsome cat Oliver; and her Ying to her Yang, Morgan. She is also survived by generations of her found family.

She was preceded in death by her Great Grandmother, Princess Shay; and her Grandfather, Glennie Shay.

Echo's memory will live on in every mountain view, every playlist, and every gathering of loved ones under the open sky. She reminded us all to seek out beauty, embrace the moment, and hold our people close.

A celebration of Echo's life will be held on January 17th, 2026, from 2 to 4 pm at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, with a reception provided by and at the Loud American Roadhouse at 4 pm.

Rest in peace, Echo. The world is quieter without your light.

The outpouring of love and support from our Community will never be forgotten.
