Edith was born at Pierre, S.D. on Aug. 12, 1926 to Christian and Edith (Fairchild) Olesen. She grew up on a ranch near Hayes, S.D. She married Fred McQuistion June 1, 1945. On May 22, 1971, she married Bill Truman and moved to Underwood, Minn.

Following Bill's death, she married Arthur Oedekoven on Nov. 3, 1986 and lived in Sturgis, S.D. After Art's death, Irene moved to Evergreen Manor in Pierre.

Edith was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and United Methodist Church.

She loved playing cards and dominoes, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Fred Mac (Vivian) McQuistion, Pierre; Ken (Deb) McQuistion, Gillette, Wyo.; two daughters, Linda Gueffroy, Watertown; Sandra (Tom) Tassler, Harrold; Three brothers, Robert Olesen, Hayes; Francis Olesen, Moab, Utah; Jerry Olesen, Pierre; two sisters, Shirley Braun, Milwaukie, Ore.; and Mary Jean Ecklund, Ulm, Mont. Stepchildren include Dale, Duane, Danny and Delwin Oedekoven, and Monny, Emmett, Jay and Gail Truman.

Interment was at Black Hills Cemetery.
