IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edna Marie
Speers
February 22, 1916 – January 9, 2018
Edna was born on a White Owl homestead on February 22, 1916. She grew up in Springfield, MO, where her father passed suddenly when she was 12. She married Glen E. Speers in 1933 at age 16 and raised 6 sons on the White Owl Ranch, many of whom when on to serve in the military.
Known to all as "Grandma" Edna lived independently with the help and care of family and friends. Coming to Washington she was thrilled to garden in the NW with fruit trees, grapes and large garden well into her late 90's. She had a great sense of humor and loved to hear of family adventures and mishaps, and posed in many "Fish" photos, some bigger than her! At the age of 100 she was caught on stage teaching her great-great granddaughters the Charleston. Her last trip to the ranch was met by loved ones and many travel "fans" and treated like celebrity!
Edna lived her life and faith to the fullest being missionary minded, supporting Billy Graham and Samaritan's Purse. Every year she helped her granddaughter pack and send shoe boxes to operation Christmas Child, over 50 boxes a year! The family would like to send 102 boxes in 2018 in her honor.
Grandma was a strong fighter, surviving everything from rattlesnake bites to cancer!! An inspiration to all.
