Edward Allen Tripp Sr., was born September 14, 1928 in East Hartford, CT, to Edward and Katherine (O'Brien) Tripp in their home. He has been a member of Local Union #478 of the Union of Operating Engineers since 1949 where he worked as a Crane Operator until retirement.

Ed married Evelyn J. Stearns in East Hartford in 1947. They lived a short time in East Hartford then moved to South Windsor, CT, and finally settled in Glastonbury, CT, where they raised their family. They moved to Sturgis in 1994. Evelyn passed away June 25, 2011, one day before their 65th anniversary.

Ed was a member of the United Church of Christ. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Edward, 89, Box Elder, died Friday, May 18, 2018, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He is survived by son, Al (Denice) Tripp of Fort Collins, CO, and grandchildren, Eddie and Tim Tripp of Woodland Park, CO; son, Dennis Tripp of Gilbert, AZ, and grandchildren, Jeremy and Matthew Tripp of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; son, Ronald (Kandi) Tripp of Wimer, OR, and grandchildren, Erin Tripp of Spring Hill, FL, Jerome (Anita) Tripp of Hesperia, CA, and Matthew Tripp, Kyle Tripp, and Stuart Tripp, all of Wimer, OR; daughter, Kathy Tripp of Box Elder, SD, grandchild, Katie Morin of Rapid City, SD, great-grandchildren, Morgan Morin of Rapid City, and Michael Morin of Box Elder, grandchild, Betsey Morin (Miquel Tobias) of Sturgis and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Isabella, and Peyton Tobias of Sturgis; son, Tim (Peggy O'Leary-Tripp) Tripp of Cedaredge, CO, and grandchild, Bobby Tevis (deceased); sister-in-law, Leslie Tripp of South Windsor, CT; and life-long friend, Alexis Dombrowski of Glastonbury, CT.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
