Edwin Joseph Wierzbicki was born June 1, 1928, at Three Lakes, WI, to Joseph and Martha (Kochinski) Wierzbicki. The family moved to Goodman, WI, when Edwin was about two years of age.
Ed moved to SD in 1949 and was in dirt construction for over 65 years. He built many dams and roads in Western, South Dakota. He loved his work and passed it on to his sons. Ed had a great affinity for nature and a special gift for nurturing animals, wild and domestic. Ed loved Polka music and kidding around with friends and family.
Ed married Geraldine Couch on July 29, 1950. To this union, six children were born.
Edwin Joseph Wierzbicki, 87, Newell, passed away at his home, Saturday morning, October 17, 2015.
Survivors include his friend and partner, Esther Blomberg; six children; Donna Wierzbicki, Belle Fourche, Ed (Sherry) Wierzbicki, Utah, Dennis Wierzbicki, Newell, Jerry (Laura) Wierzbicki, Newell, Marcia (Morgan) Strohschein, Belle Fourche, Martha Wierzbicki, Belle Fourche; four sisters, Rose (Knute) Knutson, Goodman, WI, Helen (Pete) Osterberg, Goodman, WI, Evelyn (Dale) Couch, Spearfish, SD, Lillian (Ken) Burndt, Neenah, WI; also 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. A second service will be held Saturday at Fence, WI, with the burial to follow at the Fence Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Fence Cemetery in Wisconsin.
