IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edwin "Eddie"
William Keil
July 24, 1940 – August 21, 2012
Edwin William Keil, age 72, died on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish, SD.
A private graveside service will be held at a future date.
Ed was born on July 24, 1940, in Belle Fourche, SD, to William and Rose Mary (Nedella) Keil. He grew up in Vale, SD, and graduated from Vale High School in 1958. Eddie was very active in high school sports. He played football, basketball and track. As he would leave the house for a game, his family would say, "Hey, EdWin the ball game!" And he would respond, "Ok, I will." He also developed a love for the game of golf during high school and learned to play on the "sand" greens in Newell, SD.
After high school, Ed worked for Northwestern Bell for many years and raised his family in Sioux Falls, SD. Some of the family's fondest memories include camping, water skiing, hunting and snowmobiling with their father. Ed also coached many of his kids' YMCA basketball teams. For the last 15 years, he has resided in Farmington, New Mexico, in which he loved the "laid back" lifestyle and mild weather. He was semi-retired and worked at the Civitan Golf Course which allowed him to enjoy one of his favorite hobbies.
He is survived by his three children, Suzanne (Eric) Harms of Sioux Falls, SD, Kevin (Jackie) Keil of Minneapolis, MN, and Kelli (Todd) Keyes of Belle Fourche, SD; 6 grandchildren; and his sister, Carol (Keil) Crockford.
