Sturgis- Elaine M. Whalin, 78, Sturgis, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at her home.

Visitation will be 12:00pm until 7:00pm Friday, October 31, 2008 at the Black Hills Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Sturgis, with a Rosary to begin at 7:00pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Saturday, November 1, 2008 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Fr. Kerry Prendiville as Celebrant.  A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Survivors include sons John Patrick Whalin of Rapid City, Michael Harry Whalin of Rapid City, James Bradley Whalin of Rapid City, Daniel Lee Whalin of Olympia, WA Daughters Cindy Elaine Engle of Sturgis, and Pamela Kay Sanchez of Rapid City,17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Margaret Leis, husband Corky Whalin, brothers Francis Leis, Donald Davies, and son Terry Whalin.

In Elaine's name a memorial has been established to Catholic Social Services.
