She was born in New England, ND to Ralph and Eleanor (Heidt) Jahner on April 6, 1930. She grew up on a farm in the New England area and attended a country school up to the eighth grade. She regularly took care of her brothers and sisters. On November 25, 1947, she married Alban Kopp in Raleigh, ND, and they raised their family together until his death in 1985. She then married Lee Wright on March 4, 1994 in Sturgis, and they enjoyed their time together until his death in 2013.
Eleanor will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother and a devout catholic that was often active in her parish. She was a wonderful caregiver assisting patients in hospice for many years, and enjoyed doing things for other people. She loved music and enjoyed playing the accordion, but she was happiest when her family would get together to sing and dance. The chicken dance was her favorite.
She is survived by her sons, Richard (Suzanne) Kopp, Newcastle, WY, Dennis (Tina) Kopp, Sturgis, and Neil (Mary) Kopp, Newcastle, WY; daughters, Bonnie Bruch, Whitewood, Patti (Kim) Coe, Vale, Connie Grayum, Locust Grove, OK, and Carmen (Todd) Sherman, Wilmington, NC; step-children, Ed King, Meeker, CO, Gussie Erickson, Sturgis, and Paula (Bob) Whetzal, Sturgis; sister, Mary Alice Nehl, Lemmon; 29 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; five sisters; five brothers; grandsons, Byron Crown and Trent Coe; step-son, John Wright; and son-in-law, Doug Grayum.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the Sturgis Police, EMT's, and the employees at Lippold Hospice.
Memorials have been established to St. Francis of Assisi and the Lippold Hospice Suite.
