IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth "Betty"
Rose Fischer
January 20, 1924 – September 22, 2015
Elizabeth "Betty" Rose Fischer, 91, formerly of Sturgis, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Belle Fourche Healthcare.
Betty was born January 20, 1924, to Ella and Raymond Cole. She was later adopted by Reverend and Mrs. Rudolph Hertz.
She was united in marriage to Andrew Joseph Fischer in Eagle Butte, SD, on May 20, 1941. To this union 6 children were born.
Betty and Andy made many moves during their married life. Andy worked for the Milwaukee Railroad which was downsizing at the time. The two would load their kids and belongings (sometime their worldly possessions were loaded into a rail car) and go on to the next assignment. Betty was quite an expert at settling into a new home and all the other "things" like school enrollment. She was good at putting up sheetrock, taping and painting for each new location. Her sewing skills were such that she kept her daughters in fashion, she made quilts, and many other craft items for her family. Mom had an avid love for flowers, gardens, and wood carving.
She is survived by three sons, James (Mona), David (Sharon), and Kevin (Cindy); three daughters, Delores (Dwight) Pogany, Judith (Wayne) Boehrs, and Deborah (Marvin) Linn; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; grandson, Bryan Pogany; and her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Willard Olsen officiating. Burial will follow at the Rosehill Cemetery in Spearfish.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral chapel in Sturgis on Tuesday.
A memorial has been established.
