Ella Bernice Funell, 90, White Owl, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Sturgis Regional Long Term Care Center.

Visitation will be noon until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8th at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Burial will follow at the White Owl Cemetery.

Ella was born November 1, 1919, at Faith, SD, to John Wilson and Mable (Bennett) Pence. She grew up on the family ranch near White Owl, SD, where she attended country school.

On December 29, 1942, she married Archie Albert Funell at Sturgis, SD. The couple ranched on the Pence family homestead until moving North of Hwy 34 in the late 1970's. Ella lived on the ranch until moving to Sturgis in 2009.

Ella attended the White Owl Church. She was a member of the Mission Circle and the White Owl extension Club.

Survivors include her son, Jerry Funell, White Owl; and daughter, Betty Funell, Sauk Rapids, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Larry; and one sister, Babe Heaton.

A memorial has been established to the White Owl Community Center.
