Ellen Jane was born June 16, 1951, in Kadoka, SD, to James Graham Ramey and Myrtle (Alden) Ramey. Her childhood years were spent on the banks of Bear Creek, near Wanblee, SD.
She attended school in Kadoka, SD, through the eighth grade. The family moved to Belle Fourche where she attended her freshman and sophomore years. Her junior and senior years were spent at the Fenster School in Tucson, AZ, graduating in 1969. She remained in Arizona and married Tom Aderhold in 1976. She worked at a Navajo rug outlet and spent many good times on a houseboat on Lake Powell.
In 1989 Jane moved to Flagstaff where she became an expert at repairing Navajo rugs. She worked for the museum of Northern Arizona documenting and displaying their Navajo rug collection. She became a docent and gave lectures on Navajo rugs and weaving. She enjoyed working with the Northern Arizona University in their Elder Hostel program, and was an assistant trip leader on backpacking trips to the Grand Canyon.
In 1996 Jane met Bryan McMahon through business with his family-owned trading post. In 2000 she returned to Deadwood to help her mother through a bout with cancer. Bryon joined her in South Dakota in 2001 and they were married in the Nemo church on June 16, 2001.
They moved back to Flagstaff where Jane worked at Slug Dog Inn B&B.
In 2008, after her mother's death, they moved back to Nemo to help care for her father. While in the Deadwood – Nemo area Jane enjoyed working at the Black Hills Hideaway B&B with Ned and Kathy Bode.
After her husband's death in 2017 Jane remained in the Deadwood area. She had made many friends in the Nemo Church and the Nemo – Deadwood community, that have been such a source of love and support.
Jane made friends everywhere she lived and kept contact with all of them. Her friends were her greatest treasures. She will be remembered for her laughter and her positive attitude.
Jane is survived by here sister, Joy (Larry) Dolezal; her brother, John (Anita) Ramey; her brother-in-law, Gary Schaefer, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan McMahon; her parents, Jim and Myrtle Ramey; her sister, Ann Schaefer; her nephew, Brian Schaefer; and her niece, Grace Dolezal DeVries.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Nemo Church or charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, August 20, 2021, at Nemo Community Church, Nemo, SD, with Pastor Clark Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Nemo Cemetery.
