Elvin R. Leeman, 91, Spearfish, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care Center.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Bob Totino officiating. Burial follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.
Elvin was born July 6, 1917, at Sundance, WY, to Lee Dakota and Vera Fern (Richardson) Leeman. He married Norma Watson in Sundance, WY, Nov. 27, 1941.
Elvin served in the US Army from 1945 until 1946.
He worked for the State of Wyoming Weights and Measures.
Elvin was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of the Wyoming Consistory KCCH, a Shriner, the National Bureau of Standards and the US Department of Agriculture.
He was past president of Western States Weights and Measures; past president of Wyoming State Employees Association; and Chief Clown of the Loyal order of the Mystic Shrine.
Elvin was formerly an assistant Scout Master and DeMolay Chapter Dad.
Survivors include his daughter Norma (Earl) Ollila, Belle Fourche; son E. Ray (Kathy Myers) Leeman Jr., Idaho Falls, ID; sister in law, Marjorie Goodson, Sundance, WY; 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
A memorial has been established to Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital.
