Obituary

Emma L. Schaub, 94, Belle Fourche, SD, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Emma was born January 14, 1912, at Minot, ND, to Mike and Louise (Shippe) Erdman. She moved with her family from North Dakota to Belle Fourche, SD, to work in the sugar beet farms. While her folks worked in the fields, she worked as a housekeeper in Belle Fourche. She married George Schaub in Belle Fourche on March 9, 1935.

George and Emma moved to Fruitdale, SD after they were married and worked for a local farmer. They moved back to Belle Fourche in 1939 to take over family farm from Henry Schaub, George's father.

Emma lived on the farm from that time until April of 2006 with the assistance of her son, Lawrence and his wife, Janet.

Emma's number one priority in life was Jesus Christ and the church was her life. She was a woman of prayer. She had a great love for the outdoors, her garden, flowers, and was an outstanding cook.

Emma was a member of the Black Hills Gospel Assembly Church in Belle Fourche, SD.

Survivors include two sons, Lawrence and his wife, Janet Schaub, Belle Fourche, Wilfred and his wife, Nancy Schaub, Mount Vernon, WA; two daughters, Evelyn and her husband, Dwaine Shipley, Loveland, CO, Eleanor and her husband, Aldo Hall, Scotts Bluff, NE; two sisters, Adelia Heitz, Great Falls, MT, Delores Sinen, The Villages, FL; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, sister, Olga, and brother, Hugo.

Burial in the Pine Slope Cemetery, Belle Fourche.
