Obituary

SPEARFISH | Erich Kris Hasson, 28, died Monday, September 7, 2015 in Spearfish. Erich was born in Deadwood to Pat & Carol (Thuringer) Hasson on May 6, 1987. He joined an older sister, Sarah, and an older brother, Jon. Erich grew up and attended school in Spearfish and graduated from Spearfish High School in 2006. He went on to graduate from Teen Challenge in Brookings in September 2014. While at Teen Challenge, Erich developed a relationship with God and made the decision to publicly declare his faith through baptism. He continued to live in Brookings and worked at Rainbow Play Systems in Brookings until recently. Erich was an amazing artist - his artwork will help us keep his memory alive. He also loved to cook so much that he drove all night to arrive in time to surprise his mom and make her breakfast for Mother's Day this year. Erich struggled with mental health and addiction issues for more than half of his life. His struggle and pain has ended. Jesus came and carried this lost sheep home. Erich is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Joshua Crouch (whom he affectionately called "BIL"), his maternal grandparents, Wendlin & Christine (Stadlman) Thuringer, and his aunt, Patty Thuringer. He is survived by his parents, Pat & Carol of Spearfish; sister, Sarah Crouch of Spearfish; brother, Jon of Spearfish; grandparents, Don & Avis Hasson of Mitchell; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We will miss him every day. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. and a viewing on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Countryside Church in Spearfish, 625 Woodland Drive. Memorial contributions can be directed to Great Western Bank in Spearfish.
