"Ernie" Cudmore
September 14, 1941 – March 6, 2017
Ernie was born September 14, 1941, in Mobridge, SD, to Albert Ernest and Marjorie Darleen (Carls) Cudmore. He grew up at Timber Lake, SD, before his family moved to the Black Hills and then to Newcastle, WY. Ernie graduated from Newcastle High School in 1959.
Ernie served in the U. S. Army from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1963. He served during the Vietnam War.
He graduated from Black Hills State College with a BS in Business. He married Linda Seih and from this union, three children were born.
Ernie married Gloria Peters in 1989. They lived in Pierre, SD, where Ernie worked for the DOT and Morris Construction. Following his retirement, they moved back to the Black Hills.
Ernie was a member of the American Legion and the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking and canning, and loved hearing and telling good jokes. He adored his wife and loved his entire family.
Ernest Duane "Ernie" Cudmore, 75, Sturgis, died Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria, Sturgis; son, Jimmy Cudmore, Idaho Falls, ID; daughters, Kimberly McPeek and Bonnie Ascioti, both of Tucson, AZ; step-son, Brian Singelton, Pierre, SD; step-daughter, Kimberly Roberts, Sturgis; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred Cudmore, George Cudmore, and Gary (Nickie) Cudmore; sisters, Danielle Cudmore, Rita (Michael) Lafferty, Mona Cudmore (Kyle), and Leigh Sheets; his stepmother, Mona Demery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Delaney and Lee Cudmore.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Family and friends may gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery.
