Ervin"Andy" Emmanuel Anderson (84) a long time resident of Sturgis, SD passed away November 7th at Rapid City Regional Hospital after losing a battle with cancer. He was born December 28th,1923 to Arvid and Ellen Anderson at Howard, SD. Ervin served at sea with the United States Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945 as a Gunners Mate. He said he was never seasick!

Andy was united in marriage to Evelyn Flanagan on July 19th, 1947 in Alexandria, South Dakota. Together they raised three children, Karen Husband (Tom) of Johnson Siding, SD., Alan Anderson (Susan) of Rapid City, SD., and Roger Anderson (Dawn) of Longmont, CO. He is survived by Evelyn, his wife of 61 years, his children, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and two pretty good grandchildren. He is preceded in passing by his parents, his three sisters and brother, and his K9 buddy, FA Bart.

Visitation will be from 12 to 8 on Sunday at the Kinkade Funeral Home in Sturgis. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, November 10th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis. Internment will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
