Erwin Ekart Eisenbraun, 63, Rapid City, died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the VA Black Hills Health Care Center, Fort Meade.
Committal services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard. Pastor Steve Selfridge will be officiating.Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 pm at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.
Erwin was born March 6, 1949 at Fitzbeck Germany to Adolf Reinhold and Frieda Marie (Bastian) Eisenbraun. The family immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island in November of 1951 when Erwin was two years old. The family spent a few months in Maryland before being sponsored by distant relatives. They moved to Wall where the family was employed in farming. They moved to Rapid Valley where Erwin received his education before returning to help with farming.
He was drafted at the age of 20 and served his country in the US Army. After his honorable discharge he returned home and worked for International Harvester as a mechanic. He worked at Merrilot industries and Mayflower Moving and Storage before returning to work as a mechanic for Valley Implement. He also continued to work on the family farm.
He married Janet Mulloy on January 22, 1984 in Rapid City.
Survivors include his son Jaymeson R. Eisenbraun, Rapid City; brothers, Reinhold Eisenbraun, Erich (Lana) Eisenbraun, Manfred (Laurie) Eisenbraun, all of Rapid City; sisters, Erika (Frank) Condon, Rapid City, Helga (Vern) Bauer, Rapid City, Brigitte (Ray) Pechous, Lead, Rose Marie (Bruce) Whitley, Johnstown, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
