Hot Springs - Ethel N. (Mills) Swallow, 87 of Hot Springs died Thursday, June 28, 2012. She was born near Porcupine, SD on July 28, 1924. She met her husband Woodrow Swallow in Portland, Oregon during World War II. There she was riveting war ships and he had returned from Pearl Harbor after it was bombed. They were married in 1944 in Chadron, NE. Two daughters were born to this union, Donna and Sandy. They resided in Utah until retirement in 1986, when they moved back to Hot Springs. During retirement some of the greatest pleasures were visiting with family and eating out in Rapid City. Survivors include a daughter, Sandy (Wayne) Swallow-Morgan, Spearfish; three grandchildren, Clint (Tammy) Morgan, Rapid City, Jackie (Chuck) Morgan-Yotter, Green Valley Arizona and Matt (Alice) Morgan, Loveland, Colorado; seven great-grand children and a great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody Swallow; a daughter, Donna Swallow; her parents, Benjamin and Susie (Adams) Mills; nine brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Prairie View Methodist Church on Hwy. 385 at the Smithwick turn off. A memorial has been established in Ethel's name for the Corner Stone Mission in Rapid City.
